One of the things I love for having a daughter is that I don’t get left behind when it comes to fashion trends. Indeed, with my daughter (though I reiterate - she is not a favorite child because I don’t go for favoritism….lol) I am updated on what is in or what is out, what is trendy or not and what is cool or hot.
Just this afternoon, we both went shopping for some practice shoes. They are practising their dance number for their Junior-Senior Promenade (yes - the much awaited prom night!), and since they will be wearing heels in said event, the choreographer is requiring the girls to wear high heels on the rehearsals so they can already train themselves on how to walk, sashay and dance with these shoes.
Well, my 15-year old girl who is in her Junior year in high school, is a little bit on the plumpy side, hence, it is not easy for her to find the right fit in both clothes and shoes. So we went store-hopping in search for the correct shoes that would at least make her feet look daintier. I just hoped the salesladies did not lose their patience as my daughter tried one pair after the other only to end up with an embarrassed “thank you, but we still want to look in the other stores”…
Well, thank God - ‘ten stores later’, we found a nice pair - a pink two and half inch heeled open-toed sandals with straps that hugged the ankles. We picked this particular pair because it made her ankles and lower legs look thinner since the straps created a kind of linear pattern that resulted to a slimmer shape.
If there is something I have learned today on the fashion side, is that lines can truly camouflage full figures very effectively. Be it the body, the legs, the arms or the ankles you want to conceal, linear designs (vertical in particular) answer the need.
Ma’am P!
Great fashion advice - i can really use it hahhahahahahah. i guess i better lay off those 50’s inspired round-toe flats. it does absolutely nothing for me. ick!
[…] There’s only a little more than two weeks to go before my daughter’s prom night, and we are having a difficulty on where to find the perfect prom dress for her. If only the school administration decided earlier on whether or not they would be holding a prom this year, then we could have made advanced reservation with the local designer here who did her dress last year. But with the limited time, he just won’t accept anymore job orders this late. […]
