Happy birthday to me… haha!

Well, what do you know - last June 21, I turned another year older!

It was not  a very memorable birthday, actually (on the positive side) - for several reasons. One, there was whole day power interruption in our place at Bonuan, due to upgrading  works by the electric company in which they had to change old posts and realign wirings. Two, my mom had to undergo an operation in the left eye for her cataract (which I learned only late in the afternoon when it was already over). Three, my cellphone went off because the battery drained and I forgot to charge it the night before, and since there was no power the whole day, there was no way I could charge it. Four, my internet connection was in limbo!

I was going nuts! No cellphone, no internet, no emails, no electricity! Then I panicked - how could I survive?

What a way to spend a birthday! My hubby suggested that I should go out and entertain myself then we could all dine out in the evening when the kids are done with school. But I did not want to go out in the scorching sun, so I opted to stay home. With no electricity, I could not update my PC files nor do my paper works. So in a moment of compulsion, I took a long look at my and hubby’s bedroom and decided to do some general cleaning.

So out went clothes from the closet for sorting, arranging and rearranging. I dusted all corners, flipped the mattress, changed the covers and pillow cases, got rid of newspapers stacked in the corner - and by afternoon, I was all dust and sweat and exhausted that when hubby and kids arrived, I was no longer interested in the birthday dinner out so my son had to call for delivery.

This day was not meant for the books, but at least, after I took a long,  cool shower -  my fave crunchy chicken joy made me say……..ummm… not bad a birthday after all..  :)

Geez, I know I have a lot to thank God for - family, friends, health and the gift of life above all.
