This morning, I received a text message from my sister saying some bad news that my mother had a bad fall. She fell on her back and it was quite bad she couldn’t stand due to the pain in her waist and hips.
The accident happened when she went to my brother’s house, which is right next to her house, to do some sort of ‘ocular inspection’ because my brother and his family has been away for several months now. Apparently, she wanted to see the state of my brother’s house and probably supervise her maid to do some dusting and fixing. Unfortunately, when she entered the elevated bathroom, she lost her balance and fell.
I wish Nanay (as we call her) would just learn to let things be, and shrug her shoulders even if she sees clutter. I remember one time when she came to my house for a visit. She went about every room and all the while was scrutinizing, commenting, scolding…. :) Ah, I guess mothers will always be the most loved ’prying villains’ in their children’s lives.
Nanay is 85 years old. To have a fracture at this age involves great risk because bones tend to be more brittle and heal slower with maturity.
We are still waiting for the results of her medical examinations which include a series of X-ray tests. I hope she gets well… Oh God, please make her well.
