2007: Focus on self

For the year 2007, I promise to be more nurturing of myself. And that means:

  1. Having regular manicure and pedicure (at least every two weeks).
  2. Losing weight mainly for health reasons (and maybe to look more attractive too. :))
  3. Going to bed early (if possible not beyond 12:00 midnight).
  4. Learning more computer skills to be more adept.
  5. Developing a calmer disposition by learning to meditate
  6. Buying at least one exercise gadget to keep myself trim after I finally lose weight.
  7. Hearing mass regularly, and not only on Sundays when daughter’s choir is singing.
  8. Adopting a more positive attitude.
  9. Having a happier and more zestful outlook in life.
  10. Keeping myself whole all the time by consistently uniting the three aspects of my being: mind, body and spirit.

mind, body & spirit

Am I being selfish that the above list is focused only to myself? Well, I guess not. For the many years that I have been a mother, on top of my list would always be my children. I couldn’t go to parties because nobody would look after the kids. I couldn’t seek job away from home because my children needed me… I couldn’t grow my nails just a little longer to look good with manicure because I might hurt the kids…
But those were times when they were still young, toddlers or preschoolers. Now my children are grown and I deserve a second wind of romance with myself. Don’t you think so, fellow mothers?

Rhodora! See what an idiot I am. I keep asking for links to blogsites of those who posted comments on mine. And yet, all I had to do was click on their underlined names. Now, how can someone so technologically-impaired grow her site? Maybe with a little help from friends! We’re friends now arent we? :) Congrats for such an interesting site. The pictures are great! Yes, you’re hands-down winners in the mom-doter look alike contest. And absolutely yes, its perfectly okay to focus on yourself. How can you take care of others if you don’t have well-being? Will get in touch again. Take care.

Yes, you will win the mother-doter pinagbiyak na yoyo contest. And yes absolutely, it’s alright to focus on yourself. For how can you nurture your children and other people around you if you don’t have wellbeing. All best!

Anna, pareho lang tayo, low tech! hahaha! Somehow, I am always dependent on my kids for my tech needs. Whenever there are new gadgets around the house, I just let them read the manual. Pag kailangan kong gamitin yung gadget, papa-operate ko sa kanila. And then, it struck me - I was like that before when younger! When my mom or dad wanted to play some 45 rpms or LPs on the stereo, they would call me and ask me mount the records on the turntable. Haay! old na talaga ako! hehehe
