Image of the Miraculous Virgin Mary of Manaoag
I am not a very religious person in the sense that I do not hear mass regularly, but I do visit the church at any day of the week when I feel the need for spiritual upliftment.
Though not so pious that I am, I however believe in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
I know she was just another human being. But hers was the purest heart that she was handpicked to be the mother of the Son of God. Many religious debates revolve around the issue that she should not be venerated, nor sought for prayers because she has no divine powers, much less godly traits.
But I believe in her. I just believe in her and her intercession.
Many times in my darkest hours, I would clutch on a rosary and pray over and over to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Repeated prayers, yes. Memorized prayers, yes. Patterned prayers, yes. But each time I recite the ten decades in each Holy Mystery, I feel an unexplainable divine inspiration and peace within me.
FAITH. It’s all in here. No questions asked. And no more doubts. Amen.

I agree with you. I’ve always asked for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary during my darkest hours. God bless.
Hi Rhodora. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos. Many in our family have a special devotion to Our Lady of Manaoag. My mother-in-law underwent a difficult period when she got sick because of hyperthyroidism. She became terribly weak but as soon as she got better, the first thing she did was hear mass at Manaoag church. I’ve never been there before but I heard about the blessings many have associated with their devotion to the Miraculous Virgin Mary of Manaoag.
Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. Thanks for sharing about your friendship with Earl. I’m sorry to hear that you have lost touch. I do hope that your paths will cross again soon.
Been to Manaoag once, around 15-16 years ago, a few months after the Pinatubo explosion. We even had to drive on top of semi-hardened lahar in San Fernando as the bridge was washed away by the lahar flow…
Yes, Ladybug, the Blessed Virgin Mary gives comfort to us her children.
I read your comment at Senor Enrique’s site. I am able to retrieve comments when I sign in. Just leave them here, ignore that spam thingy…
I was at your site awhile back, left comment too. Hope you are better now…
Rach, I’m so glad your mom in law has already recovered! I too am awed sometimes by the display of faith of thousands of devotees to the Lady of Manaoag.
Yes, I do hope too - to finally know my friend’s whereabouts. Thank you, Rach!
Snglguy - wow! I also experienced passing through that hardened lahar in San Fernando. Frightening, I should say. And it was a depressing site - that long stretch of land turned ashen gray. It was somewhat symbolic of the people’s despair over the destruction brought by Pinatubo.
We shouldn’t question faith.
Yes indeed, Sidney… indeed!
hi rhod! i believe in Blessed Virgin Mary too,
when time permits i would always go to Baclaran to pray the novena on wednesday
i’ve been in manaoag too because my tita is a devotee.
Hi, Jhenny! I believe the Blessed Virgin Mary provides us refuge in times of adversities.
Thousands of devotees flock to Manaoag especially on Holy Week!
It’s all about faith; isn’t it … To me, all you have to do is to have faith and believe in God. It does not matter if one does not attend mass regularly as long as that person’s heart is rid of evil and dark thoughts. What one need is clear conscience and believe that God is always there.
I’m not Catholic but sometimes when I’m in my darkest hours I’d clutch and hold on to the rosary too; it gives me peace within my turbulent soul. Amen.

The last time i went to Manaoag church was back in 2003 before i took the UPCAT exam. To be honest, I really feel like working on my spiritual life. Siguro twice pa lang ako nagsimba this year (What a confession but that’s the truth)
I haven’t been to Manaoag, not religious either, however, I always find churches fascinating! Can’t remember the last time I was inside a church…
And so was my mother, she even visited that church.
My friends and I went on regular pilgrimages to Manaoag before the bar and while waiting for the results. We all passed.
I, too, believe in the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
Must visit this church and take photos!
Di ko alam na malapit lang pala kayo dito.
Like the song, surely there is wondrous salvation in the person of the Virgin Mary, truly benevolent and merciful, and the exemplification of parience and understanding.
I do believe in the wondrous benevolence of Virgin Mary and to me, she is the best exemplication of womanhood.
I haven’t been to Manaoag yet. But I do like how you captured that church. Litaw na litaw yung church and yung color nya.
Faith is the driving force in all religions.
Mica, I don’t hear mass regularly too. It’s because I like praying alone. I get distracted with people around while mass is going on, especially when there are parents who let their kids just run about the church..
Same here, Pining. Well, strictly speaking, in the Catholic faith and other religions, attending masses and services is a must. I believe it’s the faith and how you live your life that matter most, though.
Richmond, your mom must have great faith, and I’m sure she is with the Lord now.
Toe, many faithfuls believe in the miraculous works of the Virgin Mary in Manaoag. And like you, they are thankful for their granted wishes and petitions.
Oh, do visit it, Eric. It’s worth it. Many local tourists from as far as Visayas go on pilgrimage to Manaoag church, especially on Holy Week.
Manaoag is only 30 minutes drive from our place…
Major Tom, yes indeed. Hers was the purest heart and I truly believe in her intercessional powers.
Thanks, Ferdz.
I hope you can include Manaoag in your list of places to visit. And I’m sure you will be able to take great photos as you did of other places you have been too.
I believe in Mama Mary too. I like to pray the rosary. When I was in highschool, we used to do the block rosary in October and go from house to house. I think I might have been to Manaog once…can’t remember anymore. Maybe I was really young then.
I never been to Manaoag but I hear lots of testimonies about it.
I seldom pray to Virgin Mary but I do believe in Her and when I feel like I need more help I really seek her help. When I was younger, my Catechist teacher told me that if I want Jesus to really hear my prayer I should also pray to Mama Mary so that she’ll talk to Jesus daw and tell Him to grant my prayer.
I always have that image of Virgin Mary talking to Jesus telling Him of my wishes hehe
Leah, the holy rosary has done me miracles a countless times! Yes, I used to join block rosary too in our neighborhood.
Very true, Verns. Although many people question why Catholics venerate the Virgin Mary, for me, it’s simply faith, and faith can move mountains!
I was there 2 months ago and it was my first time there. Pinangako ko kasi na pag-uwi ko dadayuhin ko talaga yan.
Mitchteryosa, ang dami talagang dumadayo sa simbahang ito, even prominent celebrities in showbiz and politics.
