Gem, Aypee and I went to visit my parents yesterday in our family home in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. As usual, Gem couldn’t take her eyes off my sister’s garden in which grow varieties of flowering and other ornamental plants.
Here are the shots she took using my Nokia N73 3.2megapixel phone cam. (Yes! I finally got this dream phone - a Mothers’ Day and birthday gift from hubby.)
Well, summer is almost over and we might as well make the most of outdoor life before the rains set in. Smell the flowers, so to speak, while they bloom…

I guess this is just one lazy post… haven’t been feeling well since this weekend due to a lingering allergy…
Incidentally, this is one of my favorite Sergio Mendes songs, and it always comes to mind everytime summer comes to end. Shucks, I can be miserably literal sometimes…
The trouble with hello is goodbye We wandered through the summertime
And drifted into fall;
We never thought of winter at all.
How foolishly we tossed away
The buttercups, the time -
Who’d have thought
We’d have no more songs to sing,
Hills to climb?
We summered in each other’s arms
And slumbered in the glow;
We never heard the whisper of snow.
But summer’s not forevermore,
No matter how we try -
The trouble with hello is goodbye.
Wow! Those are some great-looking shots from your new cam phone. Kakainggit naman…
Mukhang senti tayo ngayon, ah. Haven’t heard this song for a while.
Very nice shots! Galing-galing!
Get well soon.
I say, whoever took this photographs have the “eye,” indeed.
Feel better!
I hope you will feel better soon!
And love those flowers!
[:
Ang bango naman dito. Neat photos. hope you feel better
I remember one of the first timeandtide blogs i read had flower photographs too. And I remarked how wonderful that a phone camera could take those splendid shots. Now, you have a better one! Going up in the photog world ha.
I also love that song by Sergio Mendez. I think the soloist sings like an angel. Gusto ko din yung Bridges nila. “Theres a bridge to tomorrow, there’s a bridge from the past …. but (the best) is the bridge made of love.” *sigh*
Bounce back sooner than soon.
sarap naman amoyin ng flowers mo.. (hmmm parang pangit pakingan) heheheh
nice shots… kaya di ako nagpapalit ng phone e
get well soon!
Lovely flowers, lovely shots, Rhodora
get well, look after yourself…
Believe it or not, I just felt like coming to your blog tonight. And what a coincidence that while reading your post and the lyrics of Sergio Mendes, I was in the middle of playing Sergio Mendes songs on my Windows Media Player. I love almost all the songs from vintage 70’s, 80’s.
It pays to have the “eye”. Your flower shots are so beautiful! Look me up sometime!
I love this Sergio Mendes classic so much pero it is so hard to sing, on guitar and on karaoke. Very intricate ang melody kaya dapat pro singer lang ang pwedeng kumanta nito.
Nice and crisps pictures here and the flowers are just adorable.
Sngl, okay naman ang mga shots sa phonecam mo, a!
This song is one of my faves. I love singing it when I’m alone.. hehehe.
Thanks, LAR!
Eric, it was Gem who took them! Thanks!
Kyels, thanks! You do love flowers too?
Ferdz, thanks.. aren’t you anywhere trekking right now?
Oh, Anna! You remember that post? You are indeed my friend! hahaha!
That song - Bridges is also my fave! Oh, actually all Sergio Mendes songs are my faves! hehehe.
Thanks, friend. Feeling much better now.. at least I can type na, as my hand is not so swollen anymore.
Ikaw, Rhodyl, ha…. hehehe!
Actually, these flowers are scentless, except perhaps for the orchids which have a mild scent.
Auee, Nokia girl ka rin? I tried to switch brands to Samsung last month, pero hindi ko siya gamay, kaya ibinigay ko na lang sa son ko. Now I’m back to Nokia which is more user friendly.
Pining, thanks!
Hey, I need to visit you.. been a while since I last dropped by your site, can’t wait to see and read what’s up with you in your part of the globe!
Jane! How do you call that? Serendipity? Coincidence? Synchronicity? Ah, whatever! But I do believe that sometimes, the universe has some way of playing great timing with us earthlings!
You love Sergio Mendes too! And yes, music from the 70s and 80s are great that contemporary music artists have been reviving, producing their own versions!
Thanks for the visit, Jane. Have visited your blog, and will visit again… I love reading about your yoga experiences!
Well, Major Tom, I can sing this song by heart, acapella! hehehe.
I only have the guts to sing it when I’m all alone, though.
awesome shots, gem! i just love flowers. i went with my hubby to our local nursery and took pictures of every flower. some of them didn’t quite come out good though.
your mom is a great gardener and i love her flowers.
Thanks, Belle! Well, actually, that is my sister’s garden.. hehehe…
Seen your flower shots! They are amazingly lovely!
Superb flowers… and yes, Sergio Mendez is right…
I hope you are feeling better!
Thanks, Sidney!
Yeah.. Sergio Mendes is so so right… after hello comes goodbye!
oh yes… Nokia forever na siguro ako. I tried Sony Ericsson but I went back to Nokia after a month! Tama ka very user-friendly.
Nice shots, tita!
Ganda ng flowers sobra! Taga-Sta. Barbara ka pala… dad ko naman taga-Mabini.
Yes, make the most out of the remaining days of summer. Rainy days are here again!
Hi Rhodora. Wow, glad you got your dream phone. It’s a wonderful Mother’s Day and birthday present. Love the photos you just shared. I could just imagine the whole garden so full of life and color.
I love that song too. I have a CD of Sergio Mendes’ songs.
Sorry to hear that you have some allergies. Hope you get well soon.
Thanks for visiting me earlier. I appreciate it. Take care!
and to think that those photos were taken by the camera of your phone! your sister is lucky–she has a green thumb, she’s so blessed with lots of flowers in her garden.
i am about to change my very very old phone, i will consider getting the same model. but i just hope it is not very expensive, what with having just spent on my Sexy MacBook.
hope you recover soon from your allergies. i know it is uncomfortable.
WOW! These pictures are really beautiful. Rhodora, the song from Sergio Mendes brings a lot of beautiful memories back - I was a DJ here then - but I remember watching Tillie Moreno of The Circus Band doing this and each time the song plays, it is she who first comes to mind. She always did it so beautifully, even in the band’s reunion which was more than 20 years after she sang this song at the height of the band’s popularity.
As I write this comment, it is raining cats and dogs here in Bacolod City so indeed, we’re saying goodbye to summer!
Auee, don’t you think we should be having some talent fee for endorsing Nokia here? hehehe…
Thanks, Sasha!
Really? Your dad is from Mabini? I heard Gloria Romero hails from that town too.
Yes, Rach, a Moms Day and birthday gift.. .but come to think of it, my bday is still a month away.. shouldn’t I be getting a separate gift? hehehe.
I love all Sergio Mendes songs as well, Rach!
Thanks! Getting better now, actually!
Dine, I envy my sister’s green thumb. I can’t even plant a cactus! hehehe.
Naku, kayang kaya mo ang Nokia N73! Hey, I like the eternal white color of your Sexy MacBook!
Thanks, dear. I’m on my way to recovery now, thank God!
Bugsy! Really, you were a DJ in Bacolod? I was, too, in Baguio and then in Dagupan!
I have some DJ friends from Bacolod who transferred here in Dagupan. They are still here, actually, and still active in radio. I wonder if you know any of them.
So it’s raining there? Here naman, medyo cloudy lang, but rainy season is indeed looming…
I dont know the song.
Can’t blame you, Richmond.. You’re much too young for this song! LOL!
Lovely shots! I’ve always wanted a house with a garden!
BTW, I’ve always been a Sergio Mendez fan!
Thanks, Rolly!
Really, another Sergio Mendes fan, you are! Their songs are ageless, don’t you think so?
great shots
nice cell camera
You’re bidding goodbye to summer while I’m waiting for it to come
Thanks, BW! Yeah, it’s goodbye to summer here, and hello to summer there…
Beautiful shots Rhodora! I think we don’t see enough of flower gardens in the Philippines. Your sister’s garden must be just amazing! That’s a wonderful gift you got there. Hey, happy birthday!
Toe! Magaling ka na! hehehe. Hope your chicken pox blisters didn’t leave unsightly marks on your skin.
Oh yes, my sister’s number one hobby is gardening. She has green thumb which I obviously don’t .. hehehe.
My birthday is still three weeks away….lol Thanks anyway!
