We were in Baguio City yesterday to attend the wedding of a friend. The wedding ceremonies were held at the Baguio Cathedral and reception followed at the Baguio Country Club.
I have been looking forward to this wedding because I haven’t been to Baguio for quite sometime. I worried at first I might not be able to go with my family because of my allergy. Good thing it started healing after two days of treatment so I made it after all.
First thing I did as soon as we arrived was to pass by at my Alma Mater, the UP campus in Baguio. (Marco, my first born also graduated here.) I wanted to take some pictures so I can share them here with you and also browse on them once in a while to remind me of those wonderful years I spent in the city of Pines. Pardon the not so clear photos however for I was in a hurry to finish off because we still had some business transactions at SM before going to the Cathedral, and we were running late. Besides this alibi, it was also cloudy and later rained.
Anyway, here are the pics. Also included are some shots at the Cathedral and Baguio Country Club.
The entrance
The Oblation
My favorite spot at the campus Freedom Park
Baguio City Cathedral
The hundred or so steps beside the Cathedral. I had lost count of these steps, as well as I had lost count of the number of tiimes I ascended and descended them.
Baguio Country Club. It was raining and I took this through the glass walls of the wedding reception venue.
The buffet table. Yummy! I loved the smoked tuna! Aypee and Hubby gulped down a couple of Chardonnay and I was fretting because we had to go down home right after the reception! Anyway, after the feast, the effect of the wine somehow wore out and so we drove home happy and all filled!

Here’s what. Hubby promised to bring us to Baguio more often. After all, it’s only an hour and a half drive from Dagupan! Yey!

You really should get a Nikon D40x now! Nice photographs.
God, that buffet table looked as if filled with scrumptious foods!!!
I’m sure you all had a wonderful time
Nice pics. It’s the same thing with me. I go to UPLB everytime I’m in Laguna. It’s good to reminisce college memories while in the campus no?
Haven’t been in Baguio in ages ! Boy, you’re very close - 1.5 hours is not very far
Nice pics. Were these taken by your cell camera ? The reception looks great too. Hope your hubby wasn’t jealous that he couldn’t drink as much as you guys if he was driving
Thanks, Eric! Sige, I will think about Nikon D40x.
Food and drinks were overflowing! As in “eat all you can” talaga!
Thanks, Abaniko! Hey, how was your HK trip?
UPLB ka pala. Yes, it’s good to reminisce, both bitter and sweet memories… hehehe.
Hi, BW! Thanks! Yup, these pics were taken by my cell cam.
With hubby - well, I was guarding him from reaching out for another glass… hehehe.
We went down at around 8:30 in the evening and it was raining. There were rock and land slides along Kennon road, and we had to be very careful.
Awww! now I miss Baguio. Seems like I haven’t been there for ages. Nioce to know taga dito ka pala. Daming pagkain!
WOW! Baguio, sarap talaga diyan.
Hi, Ferdz! There’s no place like Baguio, sabi nga nila.
Yup! Daming pagkain, nabusog ako! hehehe.
LAR, sayang nga, hindi kami nakapamili ng veggies and strawberries.
hi rhodora. my, those photos brings back memories of good old memories in College. we used to go there for College conventions. though i love Tagaytay, iba pa rin talaga ang Baguio ano?

pls. understand that i don’t want to miss a thing here.
BTW, off topic, talagang naka disabled ang feeds ng Blog mo? i’ve been trying to subscribed to feeds dito sa Blog mo but Google Reader says there’s no available feeds daw.
oh rhodora, i tried to subscribe again after my comment here and it worked. hmm, must it be Google to blame or it’s just that i’m always learning the techie things the hard way.
Wow!
Sounds really, really fun!
How did the wedding go?
[:
I guess that explains why you had a guest blogger filling in for you… nagpapalamig ka pala sa Baguio. Hehehe
Feng, yes, iba pa rin ang Baguio.
Glad you were able to make it through my problematic blog.. hahaha!
Hey, I missed you at the Pinoy Mommy Lunch! But next time, I’ll be there, for sure!
Kyels, the wedding was grand! And fun too, yes! Lots of foods and drinks!
Snglguy… Shhhh! Huwag mo naman akong ibuko! hehehe.
The last time I went to Baguio was last summer pa. Kaya this trip was a welcome respite.
The facade of the Baguio Chathedral is just awesomely classic; no wonder, lots of weddings are held there, even with some I know coming from as far as here in zamboanga…In a glance, its like a structure from somewhere in Europe or in America…
May kaklase ako sa Red Cross na kicked out dyan sa school mo… hehe..
Really, Major Tom? Couples from as far as Zamboanga getting married in Baguio? Wow!
Yes, the Baguio Cathedral looks like a structure in Europe or America. What I know is that it was built by priests of Belgian order or something.
Richmond, really?
Hi Rhodora!
Nakakainggit naman! You should take advantage of your nearness to Baguio.. Imagine, in just an hour and a half, you can cool down and unwind up there…
On slimming down, hehe. Yes, I did a bit. But the weight loss seems to have plateaued. Thanks for noticing.. Keep on lang tayo. And yes, throw out the weighing scale. It’s more important if you now fit in that old but gorgeous pair of jeans than losing a pound or two.
Sorry that you missed the PMN lunch. Next time I hope to meet you!
But hubby has promised to bring us there more often.. salamat naman.. hehehe.
Well at least, you have lost some pounds! I guess you just have to maintain whatever eating habit you have, so you won’t regain the unwanted pounds.
Yes, next time - I’ll make sure to attend the PMN lunch!
The first, the last, and only time I visited the city of Pines was back in l982 with of course my still single twins baby sis. And I could still say it was a very clean city then, (I don’t know now) and it was also the month of May and our host told us that the place was even colder in December, not knowing that I live in the land of Ice and Snow. But even in summer months the weather was Perfect.
In 2005 our Alma Mater, Central Philippine University in Iloilo celebrated Her Centennial and I was left here, while my other siblings joined the thousands of her Alumni from all over the world to rededicate the Institutions that instilled among all her graduates, wherever they may be the “Central Spirit”..
I also like Baguio but it is quite far from Manila so I don’t go there very often. Thanks for the pics.
Hi, Vic!
Baguio has become a crowded place now. And the traffic is horrendous! But given the natural cool climate - it is still an ideal vacation place.
Hope that next time you will be able to go back to your Alma Mater! It’s worth the trip, really!
You’re welcome, Sidney!
Indeed, Manila is quite far from Baguio - one has to go through a grueling six hour trip just to get there! But if you’re staying for several days, it’s worth it!
The buffet looks yummy. The steps to the Virgin’s shrines make me nostalgic. Ganda ng cathedral. UP Baguio … let me see .. haven’t been there .. bakit nga ba .. though i remember visiting St. Louis U.
Sarap nagounta sa Baguio. And its only a bus ride away.
Hi, Anna!
Saint Louis U is the largest university in Baguio. It is also one of the most prestgious school in the entire country.
Yup, only a bus away, Baguio is. Kaya tara na!
Hi tita! Wow naman! Baguio! My sister is there right now attending a retreat for their school’s faculty. I wanna go there this weekend! Hay…
Tita, you’re in Dagupan? I know some people in Dagupan. Yay! Mukhang kakilala mo sila hehe
Hi, Sasha! Why don’t you go then and spend a weekend with your sis in Baguio?
Hmmm… I wonder who these people are that we both know?
glad you had a god Baguio respite, even though it was sort. a good time to reminisce and visit some memorable places. thanks for sharing the pictures.
Your favourite spot at the campus park looks so cozy. You must have done a lot of studying there.
Baguio is one of the places I have yet to visit but I don’t have the luxury of the time. i was imagining myself relaxing in your favorite spot, nice and cool.
I was hoping you would post pictures of you and your family, too.
Dine, this happens only once in a while - out of town family trip. It’s hard to organize one because each of us have different schedule.
My pleasure to share these pics. Glad you liked them.
Irene, that was my favorite study corner. It’s so quiet and I felt like no one could invade my little world whenever I hanged out there.
Belle, I also had my lunches at my favorite spot… hehehe. Hope you do visit Baguio when you come for vacation. It’s worth it.
UPCB - uy dito ako kumuha ng UPCAT exam nong akong nasa BCHS pa.
tsaka yung cathedral - feelling nostalgic ako tuloy. thanks for sharing! last time i was in baguio was 1995. memorable pa yun kasi nong time na yun, my chickenpox broke out. bigla tuloy akong baba sa manila hehe.
