Wow! I can’t believe this! I’m doing one meme after the other… lol! Okay, so we have this meme which Teacher Julie tagged me for - Songs When I was Eighteen!
Since it’s the practice in debut parties to have 18 roses, 18 candles, 18 wishes, 18 gifts, 18 whatevers… I will share here 18 songs when I was 18.
1) Tie A Yellow Ribbon ‘Round The Ole Oak Tree, Tony Orlando and Dawn
2) Killing Me Softly With His Song, Roberta Flack
3) My Love, Paul McCartney and Wings
4) You’re So Vain, Carly Simon (This is the most memorable song for me because I learned to play it on guitar all by myself when I had to take a leave from school following an operation to remove my appendix)
5) Touch Me In The Morning, Diana Ross
6) Me And Mrs. Jones, Billy Paul
7) You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Stevie Wonder
Pillow Talk, Sylvia
9) Wildflower, Skylark
10) The Morning After, Maureen McGovern
11) Rocky Mountain High, John Denver
12) Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose, Tony Orlando and Dawn
13) Danny’s Song, Anne Murray
14) Diamond Girl, Seals and Crofts
15) Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth), George Harrison
16) Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye), Gladys Knight and The Pips
17) Daniel, Elton John
18) Money, Pink Floyd
There you go - 18 songs when I was 18! Now, if you at least can recognize five of these songs and you were born much later than I was, then you do have a good sense in music.
hey come to think of it Tita Rhodes…I do know 5 out of the 18 songs you listed hehe
Wahahahaha! Of course, I know ALL those songs. I used to play some of them on my guitar. At alam mo rin pala yung “Me and Mrs. Jones” hehe, naughty song yan! Madalas yan tinutugtog sa beer house dati….
Wow, meme galore! This is like, your third meme in a span of two days I think…
I know most songs!
you’re so vain… I always sing that to the husband
what a good selection!
I know 17 out of your 18 songs.
Wag kang tatawa (nang malakas)! I’m young at heart but I do love classical and oldies but goodies songs. Galing mong pumili ng songs!
Verns! Aaah…You indeed have a good music sense! Congratulations, my dear!
Sngl! Hahaha! E, paano naman kasi - 6 years age difference is not so big, di ba?
In all fairness, I know you to be well versed in almost everything, including music - so it is no wonder that you know all these songs, though you were born 6 years later than I was.
Pining! At late 20s (or early 30s?) you do have a good music sense!
You’re so Vain by Carly Simon was my top fave then!
LAR! Bwahahahaha!
Oopsss sorry.. hehehe..
Uy, yung mga iba rito, madalas pa ring patugtugin ngayon, a!
Thanks, LAR! I researched these songs and I just picked the ones I like!
Ano ang kanta dito na hindi mo alam? A, hulaan ko! Pillow Talk? Ganda rin nito - very sensuous song, pero hindi naman vulgar, kasi actually, wala siyang lyrics.. puro “Ayayayay” lang ang maririnig.. hahaha!
All great songs here, mostly classics. I think I can sing most of them without any lyrics sheet in front of me. To be sure, I could hum all their melodies…It was a great year for music when you were 18.
Hi Rhodora!
I like this list! It shows how much of a romantic you are. =)
I LOVE Carly Simon and Maureen McGovern! I know most of the songs there because they used to be popular. My husband loves listening to and singing along songs played in RJ 100 every Sunday. I am amazed he can sing those songs,
Thanks for doing this Rhoda.
Indeed, it’s no surprise if you know all these songs, Major Tom - the music aficionado that you are!
Thanks, HB! Glad you like these songs too!
Julie! Carly Simon was my fave then!
My pleasure to have done this, Julie!
Galing mong manghula a!
I know most of the songs on your list. So do I have a good sense of music.?
omg! omg! you’re so wonderful–we were living in almost the same generation. am not sure if i was 18 then, but i love your songs!
I love Carly Simon, tita! I know all your songs and I like most of it
