18 songs when I was 18

Wow! I can’t believe this! I’m doing one meme after the other… lol! Okay, so we have this meme which Teacher Julie tagged me for – Songs When I was Eighteen!

Since it’s the practice in debut parties to have 18 roses, 18 candles, 18 wishes, 18 gifts, 18 whatevers… I will share here 18 songs when I was 18.

1) Tie A Yellow Ribbon ‘Round The Ole Oak Tree, Tony Orlando and Dawn

2) Killing Me Softly With His Song, Roberta Flack

3) My Love, Paul McCartney and Wings

4) You’re So Vain, Carly Simon (This is the most memorable song for me because I learned to play it on guitar all by myself when I had to take a leave from school following an operation to remove my appendix)

5) Touch Me In The Morning, Diana Ross

6) Me And Mrs. Jones, Billy Paul

7) You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Stevie Wonder

8) Pillow Talk, Sylvia

9) Wildflower, Skylark

10) The Morning After, Maureen McGovern

11) Rocky Mountain High, John Denver

12) Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose, Tony Orlando and Dawn

13) Danny’s Song, Anne Murray

14) Diamond Girl, Seals and Crofts

15) Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth), George Harrison

16) Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye), Gladys Knight and The Pips

17) Daniel, Elton John

18) Money, Pink Floyd

There you go – 18 songs when I was 18! Now, if you at least can recognize five of these songs and you were born much later than I was, then you do have a good sense in music.

Sngl! Hahaha! E, paano naman kasi – 6 years age difference is not so big, di ba?

In all fairness, I know you to be well versed in almost everything, including music – so it is no wonder that you know all these songs, though you were born 6 years later than I was. :)

You’re so Vain by Carly Simon was my top fave then! :)

    LAR! Bwahahahaha!

    Oopsss sorry.. hehehe..

Uy, yung mga iba rito, madalas pa ring patugtugin ngayon, a!

Thanks, LAR! I researched these songs and I just picked the ones I like!

Ano ang kanta dito na hindi mo alam? A, hulaan ko! Pillow Talk? Ganda rin nito – very sensuous song, pero hindi naman vulgar, kasi actually, wala siyang lyrics.. puro “Ayayayay” lang ang maririnig.. hahaha!

All great songs here, mostly classics. I think I can sing most of them without any lyrics sheet in front of me. To be sure, I could hum all their melodies…It was a great year for music when you were 18.

I LOVE Carly Simon and Maureen McGovern! I know most of the songs there because they used to be popular. My husband loves listening to and singing along songs played in RJ 100 every Sunday. I am amazed he can sing those songs, :)

    Thanks for doing this Rhoda.
