Today is my 25th year anniversary as a mother.
(I labored for two days and three nights. My obstetrician told me she needed to perform a CS on me if the baby didn’t come out by 2:30 a.m. of July 14. But 30 minutes to the ultimatum, he turned, seemingly ready to come out. Still, forceps had to be used to suck his head out.
Ah, it’s always the hardest the first time, yet the sweetest when I heard his cry reverberating within the walls of the delivery room. Right then and there I felt like I was also reborn as a person.)
Happy 25th birthday to my first born. Not a very young age anymore. I seriously believe he has to begin assessing his priorities now and start mapping out his future.
We haven’t talked much lately. Anyhow, I sure know he is happy because of this someone in his life.
Don’t kid me by saying I sound jealous. No, I’m not. Whatever/whoever can give him happiness, as long as it/she is a factor to his being a better person, I am happy as well.
Twenty five years of mothering! That’s half of my life spent.
Suddenly, I felt numb.

happy birthday to Marco, Happy Birthday to you, too. i remember my grandmother (bless her soul)–she would always greet me a happy birthday when one of my kids celebrates a birthday. she would say “it is your birthday also”, imagine the pains you had to go through when giving birth. true, true.

anyway, my maternal side is originally from Pangasinan, San Carlos to be specific. now all i have to do is wait for a relative to die and i’ll be there sooner than anyone thinks. ^_^
