Music to my ears, ‘ika nga. hehe.
Silence can be good pero it depends on the circumstances that we’re in. However, too much silence can make us feel different when we’re so used to noises surrounding us.
ahhhh I just bought Five People You Meet In Heaven last
night….excited to read the whole thing
Anyway sometimes I hate the silence…feeling ko nabibingi ako but more often than not I appreciate it. In silence you don’t have to think.
Some people like it because they get to think and reflect…but me I just like it because in silence nagiging blank yung mind ko…that way I can forget my worries and concerns.
Verns, after reading ‘Tuesdays with Morie’, I decided to check out ‘Five People You Meet in Heaven’ also.
Would you believe, I read three books in a row last weekend. hehehe. I devoured them like a hungry lion. Guess I just got tired of these stiff law books, so for a change naman, I decided to read the long-due Neil Gaiman, one Bob Ong book and the one by Mitch Albom. I got nothing else to do anyway, as I was holed up in my daughter’s dorm.
Being a live wire that you are, I don’t wonder why you hate silence. hehe. But really, it must be fun having you around. Hope we can EB too, one time.
My first ,second months here in DE was like that, nasa bahay lang, pakiramdam ko ako lang yung nag iingay.
hi rhodes, musta na? hope everything is fine and dandy with you.
we finally achieved silence in the house as the kids are all gone in their respective college but i miss the good ole days: the morning rush, the commotion, and the yelling.
Ang pinakamahirap siguro, Cheh, e, yun bang maingay ang paligid, marami kang naririnig na nagsasalita, pero alien ang salita nila sa iyo at wala kang maintindihan.
I’m sure you have well adjusted now though. But then, there’s no place like home.
I recently had problems with noise in our community as more and more children have began to play within our vicinity, after the roads there had been cemented and the sidewalks fully concreted. I had to berate them a little. At home, silence gives me great comfort…
am glad to see one “silent” post from you, my dear Rhode. are you breaking it now? let me share with you a poem i wrote year ago:
it’s deafening—the quiet stillness of the night
wondering why it is so
to shout out loud only to hear
the quiet mockery of my very call
brought by echoes from nowhere
just like the veiled sarcasm of bitter moments
when in a crowd but feeling alone
only to be lost in what i call my own
i have been through this many times
but i haven’t felt such pain, such bitterness
now i can tell one from the other
just like telling moments from memories
loneliness and aloneness are two different things.
the deafening sound of silence is unbearable in my tinitus-afflicted eardrums
Ay, Tutubi, pareho kayo ng hubby ko. Kailangan may sounds lagi, kasi nabibingi daw siya pag tahimik.
Silence, I think, makes some feel insecure or are scared that they might hear the truth, Rhodora. =)
Salamat naman at nagbalik ka na! Nakakapanibago ang katahimikan ng blog mo. Hindi ako sanay.
Mas gusto ko ang tahimik na paligid. Nakaupo lang sa isang sulok.
Yes, I believe you are right, Houseband00! Silence oftentimes “speaks” the truth…
LAR!
Music to my ears, ‘ika nga. hehe.
Unfortunately, silence is one commodity that is so rare in my life these days, it might as well be a pipe dream. Especially where I live…. hay
Have a great weekend, Rhoda
But when you get used to the everyday noise, you are not comfortable with silence anymore, di ba?
Thanks, Rudy! Have a great weekend too!
Silence can be good pero it depends on the circumstances that we’re in. However, too much silence can make us feel different when we’re so used to noises surrounding us.
How true, Kyels… so very true.

By quoting about silence, you’ve broken your silence. And that’s fine.
I took a brief blog bakasyon too and I was able to read two of Anne Tyler. Splendid both. Have neglected reading for a bit.
Ahhh…you are back,I hope. I’m glad about it. I miss you and your posts.
Take care po!

Hi, Anna! Kaka-miss din kasi ang magbasa ano? Sometimes kasi, we get caught with the daily grind, so we don’t get to read much.
Julie! Hello!
Well, just testing the water.. hehehe.. Be visiting your blog in a while.

Hi, Belle! I’m quite fine, yes, thank you.
Ay naku, when you get so used to the kids’ noises, and then suddenly they are gone, mabibingi ka hindi lang sa katahimikan, kundi sa kalungkutan din!
I love complete silence and pitch-black darkness. It is so calming.
Toe, I like complete silence too, but not pitch-black darkness. I usually sleep with at least a subdued light on.
I recently had problems with noise in our community as more and more children have began to play within our vicinity, after the roads there had been cemented and the sidewalks fully concreted. I had to berate them a little. At home, silence gives me great comfort…
ah so there’s a quote for me… If I’m doing interviews or meetings, I am bothered by silence. I always get the urge to say something! Weird.
