I was so full of hope. Pregnant with my eldest child, I looked forward to a better future for my children. We’re back in square one. How sad but still I hope…
Hi Rhodora, same sentiments here…But I’ve noticed pagod na Pinoys to go to EDSA to oust the sitting president then yung papalit same din. Saken, sana mag snap elections na lang so we can just choose our next leader than to settle for Noli, tsk, tsk…Btw, I missed your blog.
I am still hoping for a genuine transition government….
We all wish and hope for the best for our countries. Even I do too. Hopefully Philippines will see a new era that is filled w/ hope and leaders whom are willing to fight for its people.

Ay naku - you said it - Filipinos should not narrow down their choice on Noli. I still believe, there is one right leader amongst us - and hopefully that leader will bring real change for the good of the nation.

Kyels, Malaysia has now overtaken the Philippines by a long mile in terms of economy and national development. Hopefully, with the right leader, (though remote, and bleak) will emerge someday, someday.

EDSA 1 was a disappointment (di Cory had her “kamag anak inc.?), the second one was even worse. Paano na kaya pag nagkaroon pa ng EDSA 3? Hay nako, walang mangyayari sa people power revolution na yan if we, I mean… the masses will keep on voting for those traditional politicians and brainless celebrities.
Know what, Rudy.. what I relish about Edsa 1 was the magic of that moment, when armed soldiers and tanks and machine guns were all aimed at the people, and yet no bloodshed took place. That’s it. I was awestruck… My eyes could only see yellow and Cory became an instant favorite as icon for freedom and democracy. But then.. sadly, after that, everything became a disappointment.
Truth is - ‘m not really looking forward to another Edsa. I’m looking for the same magic of that same moment on Feb. 25, 1986 - but with the hope it will last and stay even after the euphoria has died down.
What is the problem? The problem is us.
After our so-called united front to kick a bad guy, we just relax and go back to our birds eye view of what Philippines is and what Filipinos must do to its country.
We never really dealt with the real issues, we concern ourselves with personalities. For a long time, I heard not too many people talking and explaining the effect of corruptions, bad governance and what have you to the common tao. Not too many people have explained why many Filipinos are becoming poor everyday, unable to go to school, unable to find gainful employment, unable to have decent medical care and a decent home. And this is what our politicians have been exploiting for the longest time i have ever known.
Alam mo ba na I do not like history. History repeats itself. And I hare repetitions.

all i can remember with this event was the slogan “cory kami”
but then, its kinda getting boring anymore, having to witness so many “EDSA” with seemingly the main agenda just “showing off”.
I don’t know but the only thing that makes me happy about this EDSA thingy is that there’s no work…I joined EDSA 2 and nothing happened. EDSA 3 was stupid IMO…so pulleeaaseeeee give me a break…no more EDSA-EDSA.

Totoo yan - the Edsa revolutions are being used by the politicians to gain pogi or ganda points from the people. What shame.
I second your opinion, Verns. Those endless Edsas are actually putting our country to shame. Rebo-rebolusyon kuno, e afterwards naman, they go back to their old ways.

Time to transition to party politics instead. Have political parties spell and tell their plans and not count on the president - just like other countries. A change is definitely needed in the way we govern and legislate.

Incidentally my husband got this mug when he and his fellow officers of the National Movement of Young Legislators (in which Francis Pangilinan, Sharon Cuneta’s husband is founding president) paid a courtesy call to then President Cory Aquino at Malacanang. But oh well, that was in 1991.
Sana lang, if we can restructure everything in our country, noh? But that is impossible. Sigh!

EDSA was exhilirating. EDSA 2 was a triumph. EDSA 3 a travesty. EDSA 4? ay naku I really don’t know. Ayaw kong magsalita nang patapos. Ayaw ko ding mawalang ng pagasa. Pero ……
