Photography fever

MY DAUGHTER GEM wants to hone her skills in photography and has been bugging me to buy her a DSLR. (Yes, she too, has caught the photography fever, hehe.) I told her a DSLR will have to wait because we need to give priority to other more important and urgent matters such as her tuition fees and her brother’s Nursing board review expenses.

But that does not discourage her from pursuing this interest. She keeps on taking pictures everywhere, using her cam phone. Or sometimes she borrows cams from friends.

(Side Note: I also like photography and at one time planned to enroll in photography workshops. But jeez… when you are a working mother, you’d wish there was a 13th hour on the clock just so you can squeeze in everything you need and want to do in a day.)

Here are some shots Gem took recently. Sorry I’m not good at posting pictures, as you know I’m just a mom-blogger, not a photoblogger. :)

She has talent… you will need to buy her that dSLR soon!
Especially if she is serious about it.
The prices of a simple dSLR is going down all the time!

Hmm. I think you’re right. It’s not the camera but the shooter. My daughter used to tinker with my cam phone and was able to take some decent shots as well.

    Thanks, Norman. :)

sabi ng mga maestro, kapag me talent ang bata, kahit anong ipahawak na camera sa kanya, maganda ang kalalabasan. your daughter is a classic example.

tease mo muna sya sa dslr, for the meantime give her a good point and shoot camera that she can toy around.

  38.
    March 8, 2008 | 5:06 am

Wow, at talagang ibibili mo ng dslr ha? That’s quite a big jump. Dapat siguro yung mga point and shoot na branded muna like the Canon A570, which I bought in Quiapo recently. It has all the features of a true dslr , like an optical image stabilizer for example. I know it’s selling at 14+K in the malls pero nakuha ko lang 11k, haha. Meron pang kasamang Ansmann battery charger and rechargeable batteries aside from the 1 gb card.

Anyway that’s just my suggestion coz more than a decade ago, I too went into photography and even had a complete set of equipments and accessories, pero nawalan din ako ng interest soon after at inamag lang yung mga gamit. Nasayang lang. Besides, you’ll never know IF and when she’ll tire of it and move on to whatever things that will interest her next. Boys perhaps? Oops sorry… :-D
