My son is graduating…and I’m on cloud nine!
Filed under: Celebrations and Family matters

FIRST OF ALL, I would like to apologize to my readers for not being able to post entries regularly, and also for not visiting the sites of blog friends, who, despite my not being very visible in the blogosphere lately, still take time to drop by. To you all, thank you for visiting. I hope to also visit your sites very soon.

Well, with the school year already wrapped up, I am proud to announce that my second son, Aypee, is finally graduating from college. I say “finally graduating” because he shifted courses and so the delay. He is joining the graduation march on May 2 and already, he is very excited, though my husband insists I am the one who is more excited. :)

My husband and I are so grateful to God that despite our financial hardships in life, we’re able to provide education to our children. We keep telling our kids the only thing we can hand to them as inheritance is education. Therefore they should make the best out of the “privilege of the right to education” that we are able to bestow unto them. Not all young people are given the opportunity to attain college education. Even the United States, a developed country and a superpower at that, has many out of school youths, drop outs and those who simply cannot afford their high cost of college education.

So on May 2, we will accompany our dearest second son receive his diploma as a Nursing graduate from the Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan City. I am elated, yes, I admit. I have this Cloud Nine sensation right now, which I first felt when our first born, Marco, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Political Science at UP Baguio. That was in 2004, and I relish the high up to now.

Sorry folks, I’m just a proud, happy mom. I hope you don’t mind this shameless self promotion. I just want to share with you my joy as a mother.

You may want to see the official graduation photos of my kids:

And of course, my baby, Gem on her high school graduation last year from Pangasinan Universal Institute in Dagupan City (formerly Universal Chinese School). Gem is an incoming Sophomore student in International Hospitality Management at Enderun Colleges on Ortigas Center, Pasig, Metro Manila with a new campus at McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio.

God is truly good!

Thank you, dear readers… for your indulgence. :)

yay! congratulations to aypee! i totally understand why you’re so elated about it. i was telling marco the other day that you must be so proud. and to think,, gem will do the march in two years time. ^_^

also, when i first saw the pic of marco, i didn’t recognize him. -.- he looks like oyo boy sotto doesn’t he? he’s working out at a gym like crazy now wanting to look like THAT again. i mean, he’s cute looking like that, but i like him the way he looks like right now. THIN MARCO= OH NOES! do you know he has masels now? :(

if, no, WHEN he does lose all the weight, it will definitely be in spite of me. but of course i try to be supportive.

Seriously, Liz, I can’t imagine how Marco will look like when he starts having the muscles.. hahaha. He was “payat” as a kid. He started gaining weight only in his later years in college. But the gym work out might do him good because he is an indoor person, and I worry sometimes he is not breathing enough air. Plus, from sunrise to sundown, he is gawking at his laptop. Hay, naku.

    TO JULIE (Teacher Julie):

This is embarrassing, Julie. I accidentally deleted your comment.

Anyway, thank you for your encouragement, and for letting me know it’s okay to blog about our children’s achievements, not so much as to praise or exalt ourselves, but perhaps - to serve as inspiration to others, di ba?

Congrats too for you kid’s passing the test and not having to undergo Grade 7 anymore. Whew! Isang taon din yun, ha. :)

    Salamat, Melai!

Naku, age doesn’t matter in education, kaya huwag ka magalala. Yey!

Congrats to the proud mama. I was asking Marco during their concert where you were and he told me you were at the graduation. It must be a thrilling experience after seeing him shift many times. Congrats.
